About MoneyGuide.ca

MoneyGuide: In the beginning

The MoneyGuide.ca story is tied into Fiscal Agents Ltd. national interest rate surveys. In 1977, Fiscal Agents produced the first Canadian independent deposit interest rate comparison chart, published in The Globe and Mail newspaper. Since then, we have continued researching, collecting and publishing a broad spectrum of market sensitive interest rates – and our consumer retail rate tables have been relied upon by millions of conservative investors, seeking predictability with guaranteed income, security of capital, and convenience, while investing billions over the decades.

We’ve built the MoneyGuide.ca website to be as fast, hassle-free, and packed with useful features to assist you with meeting that goal, created as its online media touch point – becoming a centralized interest rate monitoring hub for Canadians, distributing and publishing a wide spectrum of interest rate and related research intelligence with background on products and services.

This year, MoneyGuide enters another phase by establishing the quickest and easiest way to interact and source current interest rates and products from savings accounts, GICs, retirement products (RRSP, RRIF and annuity products), savings account products (TFSAs and daily interest), as well as mortgage rates and various consumer surveys.

Conservative and value-conscious GIC investors, mortgage applicants, and other consumers rely upon our timely and accurately reporting. Canada’s renowned and prestigious financial institutions and professional money managers, insurance advisors and deposit brokers all benefit by having the interest rate market place at their fingertips.

How often rates are updated on MoneyGuide.ca

We have full-time research staff that maintains all the information on the site, and each rate survey carries its own collection date.

We call and electronically monitor the listed institutions each day (or noted otherwise) on a rolling schedule. Inaccuracies brought to our attention are researched and updated immediately.

We hope you’ll continue to revisit MoneyGuide.ca, and see how we are build-out and enhancing the availability of products and services.
